The Dachshund Club of Queensland recommends that potential owners of dachshunds purchase puppies that are registered with the Queensland Canine Control Council, or another interstate or overseas canine authority.
The DCQ lists dachshund kennels from which puppies may be purchased from time to time on this website (go to BREEDERS DIRECTORY) and information on other registered breeders who may have puppies can be obtained from the Club Secretary.
Potential dachshund owners who may be interested in obtaining an older dog from a registered owner/breeder can also obtain that information from the Club Secretary or another Club member.
A dachshund rescue service is also offered by the Club whereby a dachshund is saved from a pound or is handed back by an owner who for whatever reason can no longer look after it. Good homes are wanted for such dogs from time to time.
The Club also encourages potential Queensland owners to become members of the Dachshund Club of Queensland so as to be kept abreast of the latest news that may be of interest to dachshund owners. The Club has a regular newsletter sent to all members and as from this year (2004) members can also have it sent to them via email
